Education and Study
The arrangements
for the education of young people accommodated are largely dependent upon their
age and the type of educational service required to best suit their needs. For the more elder young people Plus One has
positive links with local colleges. We
are able to fully support the local Education Authority in providing the
education programme to the young person.
For those young people whose behaviour
causes more of a challenge and who require a specialist educational setting,
Plus One contracts to two OFSTED Inspected and fully registered independent
schools who offer opportunities to study a range of subjects within the
National Curriculum and also the opportunity to pursue studies of a more
vocational and outdoor nature following an ‘alternative curriculum’.

The arrangements
for the education of young people accommodated will be geared to each young
person’s Key Stage and the type of learning that would best suit their needs,
coupled with small classes and additional support in the form of Teaching
Assistants if required.
Plus One has a
strong and flexible approach to education and ensures learning experiences
outside of the school setting through a well developed active learning
activities program at every opportunity.
All Young People resident with Plus One are required to attend education
on a daily basis. Homework also forms
part of the young person’s routine and private, quiet areas are made available
to undertake this study. Parents or
those with parental responsibility receive weekly school reports.
